A licensed OT & Certified Hand Therapist who treats the whole person, not just the injury.
My journey as an occupational therapy practitioner started when my children were small; my personal use of homeopathy, herbs, aromatherapy, EFT, mindfulness techniques, and whole, plant-based foods introduced me to a more holistic way of caring for the human body. OT, with its emphasis on whole-person care, seemed a natural fit.
While my feet are planted firmly in those roots, I actively seek out the latest scientific, evidence-based treatment methods for every plan of care. I received the highly sought-after CHT credential in 2020. Continuing education in upper-extremity conditions, subscriptions to hand therapy journals, and a love of watching surgical videos feeds my inner hand-nerd.
Prior work includes several fast-paced hospital-based outpatient hand therapy clinics for orthopedic and neurological conditions, plus time in acute inpatient rehabilitation. I'm grateful to have been invited into the O.R. by a local hand surgeon to observe several of his surgeries firsthand.
Gentle bodywork that releases what stretching alone cannot reach.
MFR alleviates pain and dysfunction caused by fascial restrictions — the thickening, shortening, or tightening of connective tissue after injury, trauma, inflammation, or poor posture. Unlike conventional stretching, MFR uses prolonged, continuous holds of 3–5 minutes so the tissue actually and permanently changes.
Paired with Usui Reiki, a hands-on Japanese energy technique for stress reduction and relaxation, the work supports both the physical and emotional layers of healing. It can stand alone or complement your orthopedic rehab.
- Reduce chronic pain & fascial tension
- Restore flexibility & range of motion
- Release tissue memory from past trauma
- Nervous-system down-regulation & deep calm

Common questions, answered.
We operate as an out-of-network provider. That means a bit of homework up front — but it keeps sessions longer, more personalized, and focused on you instead of insurance billing codes.
Do you take insurance?
Hands-On Wellness OT is an out-of-network provider. Payment is due at time of service; I provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Call your insurance and ask about "out-of-network occupational therapy / rehabilitation benefits." I'm happy to help you decode the response.
Do I need a prescription or referral?
Please email, fax, or bring your prescription before your first visit or at the time of your visit. If you have additional relevant documentation — reports, imaging, surgical notes — please bring or email those as well. Large files may need to be sent as a series of emails.
How does telehealth work?
Telehealth visits happen by secure video. Set up your device in a well-lit area (in front of a window works well) with tested camera and audio. A 3 Mbps or faster internet connection is ideal — you can check yours at speedtest.net. For shoulder assessments please wear a tank top; for arm/elbow, a sleeveless or loose-sleeve top you can push up.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Square, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, credit card, HSA card, cash, or local check. For telehealth visits, please clarify payment before your visit by calling 845-915-0115 or emailing michelle@handsonwellnessot.com.
What should I prepare before my first appointment?
Once scheduled, you'll receive a packet (by email or in person) with forms to complete ahead of your visit. Please also read the "How to Determine OT Benefits" document so you understand your coverage and whether prior authorization is needed. For telehealth, check the Common Household Items for Exercise page to gather useful items ahead of time.
Why choose a CHT?
The CHT credential is voluntary and difficult to attain — rigorous standards, thousands of supervised hours, and a comprehensive exam. It signals that your therapist has advanced competency in upper-quarter rehab, knows current surgical techniques, and stays up to date with the field. It's recognized as a benchmark for excellence in hand therapy.
